Altera Corporation today strengthened its intellectual property (IP) portfolio with the addition of four new best-in-class IP cores to the company’s MegaCore IP library. These new best-in-class IP cores include an ultra-high performance and ultra-low latency 100G Interlaken, 100G Ethernet, 40G Ethernet and 10G Ethernet IP. Hall-effect switches are most commonly used in sensing absolute position, because they require a south pole of sufficient strength to turn the output on and then removal of that field to turn the output off. These contactless sensing solutions require few external components and can withstand the hostile operating conditions of automotive applications. Typical applications include: shift selectors, wiper end/home position, door ajar/open, and vane-interrupt systems. Allegro also offers a wide selection of two-wire devices, which are often used in safety critical applications, such as seat belt buckle and seat position sensing.

Highly Efficient Step Down Converter

The TPS6209X-Q1 device family is a high frequency synchronous step down converter optimized for small solution size, high efficiency and suitable for battery powered applications. To maximize efficiency, the converter operates in PWMmode with a nominal switching frequency of 2.8 MHz/1.4 MHz and automatically enters Power Save Mode operation at light load currents. When used in distributed power supplies and point of load regulation, the device allows voltage tracking to other voltage rails and tolerates output capacitors ranging from 10 µF up to 150 µF and beyond. Using theDCS-Control topology, the device achieves excellent load transient performance and accurate output voltage regulation.

The two main types of automatic blood pressure monitors are upper-arm and wrist models. The upper- arm model has a cuff that is placed on the upper arm; the cuff is connected by a tube to the monitor that rests on a surface near the arm. The wrist model is smaller and the entire unit wraps around the wrist — this is a much more space-critical design. Some upper-arm models require manual inflation of the cuff, but most upper-arm and all wrist models are fully automatic.
